[email protected]
Course Description:
Foundations is designed to introduce the student to the systems that are the base of all Manufacturing, Engineering, and Technology concepts. Included in this are a mixture of lab activities coupled with theory and math concepts (Algebra I is recommended). Also included will be an introduction to physics applications concepts and career search activities that are designed to help the student begin to direct their education to more specific career areas of their choice. Helping guide the student through these concepts, will help provide practical applications for the Manufacturing Engineering or Technology career that the student may eventually choose. Students will be working in teams to accomplish most lab activities as well as class room work except for safety which will have to be passed individually. The team will develop a portfolio tracking the team’s progress through the challenge as well as research careers that pertain to each. Attendance will be a priority. This class is based on participation, when a team member is absent, often the team’s total accomplishment will suffer.
The student will be held responsible for completing any assignments they have missed, they are able to accomplish this during scheduled make up times, no class time will be provided.
Daily classroom supplies:
Supplied by the student - Engineering notebook (a composition book or a 5 x 7 will work) and a pencil.
Special Supplies Requirements: will be covered under a $10.00 lab fee other materials will be Re-cycle type materials such as soft drink cans, paper towel tubes, Pringle’s cans, etc.
